Canadian Pierogi Nachos Recipes

Image
On our first road trip to Canada after we decided that we would move there one day. As soon as we crossed the border we stop at a restaurant to have lunch. We found a small town with similar restaurants and fast food chains to American, which wasn’t what we were looking for. We wanted something new, some local food, something Canadian. Right, when we were about to move on to the next town is when we saw it. Next to the town hall was a small modern diner with a jukebox, and on the menu, there were a lot of familiar items. One thing that was different was ginger ale its rare in America to find ginger ale on a menu (I know because I like ginger ale and look for it) so I was hoping this was the new norm in Canada and it turns out it is. The other item on the menu that was new to us was pierogi nachos. We never heard of pierogis before and these seemed amazing. Fried golden brown pierogis stuffed we potatoes and cheese, top...

Easiest Coleslaw Recipe in this World to Make

Image
Who knew it could be so simple!                 Here’s how this recipe happened. I was at home and I just got done making some bar-b-qued pulled pork and I was going to make a sandwich. The problem is sometimes you just can’t eat a bar-b-qued pulled pork sandwich without coleslaw and well sometimes was that day. I looked in the fridge to get out the ingredients to make coleslaw and realized I only had one half a head of a cabbage. We had some out of country visitors the night before and I guess at some point in the middle of the night they had a hankering for cabbage, half a head cabbage, and some veggies to be exact. Well, that’s no big deal right like my daddy always said, “one monkey don’t stop no show.” So, whenever life gives me lemons I always find a way to make lemonade, or in this case coleslaw. If you or someone you know has been robbed of your veggies or only has half a head of cabbage or ca...

Super Simple Pulled Pork Sandwiches

It's too easy!                    I  remember many a summer, spring break, 1st and 4th of July, or sunny day biting down into a warm and juicy pulled pork sandwich. Pull pork sandwiches always make me look forward to summer, warm weather, and outdoor gatherings. I couldn’t wait for the snow to melt and the grill to fire up, and sometimes, when it was cold outside, and someone would say grab a cup of hot cocoa and think of warmer times… I would sneak away to a local char house and grab a pull pork sandwich and remember the warm embrace of summer. Until I had to go outside again, talk about heartbreaking. Never fear, we can still remember summer even when its cold out from the comfort of our own homes, without having to brave the cold. So, if you're snowed in or just sick of the snow here’s the easiest way to get your pulled pork fixed without tracking snow into your house.   Here’s what you’ll need to serve 6 cab...

Pork Tenderloin Wonton Soup Recipe

Image
It’s the day we have all been waiting for in my house. The day I bust out the pork tenderloin I made yesterday and turn it into wonton soup!! Oh yes, today I am in my happy place and really craving some light yet hardy wonton soup. Who can resist a nice hot bowl of wonton soup, I know this girl can’t! One time I didn't even finish making this soup and people kept eating the wontons out of the pot. Everyone only got three wontons on their soup that day. It was like a sad story from an awful Chinese restaurant, “there were only three wontons in my soup!” We all have been there, staring down at a massive takeout container filled with delicious broth only to find one or two wontons. Oh, the humanity!  Since then I have learned to make extra wontons for all the food snatchers in the house. If you’re reading this, you know who you are (I’m watching you). Oh and before I forget. If you want to make the whole wheat wrapper and pork tenderloin recipe ...

Whole Wheat Wonton Wrappers Recipe

One thing we really enjoy eating in my family is Wonton soup. What really makes the soup is the wonton wrappers. Unfortunately, we are in Maple One thing we really enjoy eating in my family is Wonton soup. What really makes the soup is the wonton wrappers. Wonton soup without good wrappers is like chicken noodle soup without egg noodles. Unfortunately, we are in Maple  Ridge BC right now and are unable to find any wonton wrappers. Fortunately, I have a wonton wrapper recipe up my sleeves. The reason I'm making whole wheat wrappers is for one it's healthier than white flour, and for two the baby in my belly won't let me eat bleached grains. If you're at a place in your life where you have no wonton wrappers, or you can only have whole grains give this a try and let me know what you think. Ingredients 2 Cups All-purpose Wheat Flour 2 Tablespoons olive oil 1 Teaspoon salt 1 Cup water Items needed that you might not have in your kitchen ...

Pork Wonton Recipe

Fried wontons, boiled wontons, steamed wontons, it doesn’t really matter to me how they are cooked they are all good in my opinion. The types of filling those cute little savory dumplings of goodness have in them are endless, and I love them all. There is, however, something to be said about the good old fashion tried and true pork wonton. They are unbelievably good! It doesn’t matter what’s mixed in with the pork as long as it’s a pork wonton. Now I understand that not everyone eats pork. So if you want to substitute the pork in this recipe rest assured I substitute all the time and it is amazing as well. You can use anything you like but here are some examples of items I most common use in absence of pork are; Chicken, cream cheese, potatoes, cabbage, spinach and cream cheese, and cheddar cheese.  If you decide to go with cheddar cheese, make sure to add the shredded cheddar to the fully cooked ingredients after they have coo...

Crockpot Pork Tenderloin

Easy Recipe for a Soft and Juicy Tenderloin          It’s a classic that never gets old. You never get sick of eating it, and no one ever gets sick of making it. Plain, with sauce, or playing hide and sneak under the mash potatoes and peas. One of my favorite things to make and eat is a good old fashion roast pork tenderloin. The meat is so tender, and the broth is so versatile it can be used for almost anything from appetizers to main courses. Pork Tenderloin is used in a variety of dishes and is even a good substitute for chicken because hey it is ‘the other white meat.’ You may have heard of it by its other names such as Pork Fillet, Gentlemen’s Cut, or my personal favorite Pulled Pork, but one thing is for sure. No matter what you called it tastes extradentary. This recipe is simple, straightforward, and uses very few ingredients, which makes it the perfect candidate for adding to other dishes later. Ingredients: Pork tenderlo...
